Cute as a bug's ear

My daughter never ceases to amaze me with her development, and often with her creative use of her new langauge skills. Being two and a half has its challenges, but she is learning and growing so quickly.

One of the things she does that I think is cute (for now anyways) is her mis-use of refering to herself in the first person. Instead of saying 'I am hungry' she will say 'My hungry'. 'I' is often replaced with 'my'.

The other day she was being very cute and cuddly and wanted to put her sun glasses on my face. I told her not to poke my eyes out with the stems while she was trying, and her response was 'My be nice to your eyes. My not poke them out.'

In spite of her cuteness, she still did not get to put the glasses on daddy's face as that would have likely resulted in a re-creation of that scene from the movie 'Tommy Boy', only this time involving glasses instead of a suit coat. Can anyone sing "Fat guy in a little pair of sun glasses"?

Got an itch

I have picked up a nagging itch. No, not the kind that need an ointment or anything. Nothing a doctor can heal. I have the itch for a new laptop. Mine is almost 4 years old now and has of late started making some noises that a healthy laptop ought not to make.

I get asked by people once in a while (I work in technology related things so they think I know what I am talking about) about what to get in a laptop, etc. I sort of live vicariously through them and their purchase of a new machine.

I started looking recently for one for myself, hoping to be able to afford one in the next couple of months. I know what I want, now I just have to find a way to pay for it. I can already see myself sitting with it, working away, happily enjoying its power and resources.

Its good to dream. Now if only it comes true.

Mouse sets house on fire!

Saw a news story online today about a mouse that caught a house on fire after himself being thrown into a fire and had a laugh. Funny, and yet not on so many levels.

Funny line

Heard a funny line in an episode of a tv show that was on at our house this weekend. The person was being pressed for how soon they would do something after having just told them they would do it soon.

"I will do it soon. You know . . . when the big hand is on the 'S' and the little hand is on the 'oon'."

Must remember that one next time the kids ask me when we are going to do something.

a season of travel

I and my family are heading into a season of travel. From our home in India we will spend the next 6 months in numerous places. Other parts of India, a lot of different parts of America, and then back home to India. In fact, between now and mid-June, I will (if all things stay as they are planned right now) only be at my home for 6 weeks between now and June, and will take approximately 20-25 flights each.

While it is nice to build up so many frequent flier miles (we get to do fun things with them like fly family members to where we are so we can see them, etc.), the fact that my 'hiney' is permanently shaped like an airplane seat is never a good thing. I used to think all the travel would be the fun part of what we have chosen to do with our lives. Now, i just endure the travel part and enjoy getting to see the people in the places we go.

During our time in America we will be in Michigan, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Minnesota, Florida, Virginia and maybe one or two other places as well. Want to see us in one of those places? Drop us an email and let us know.
